Vanil

The name Vanil is an expression of the Friborg patois and refers to ledges and couloirs as well as mountain peaks whose flanks are criss-crossed by such gullies .

The term originally goes back to the Gallic word vanno (for slope, summit or rock). The name corresponds roughly to the designation French Sex , Rhaeto-Romanic Piz or Italian Sasso .

Well-known mountains with the name Vanil are the Vanil Noir , the Vanil d'Arpille , the Vanil des Artses or the Vanil Carré .
