Vanitas was a dark metal band from Austria that was founded in 1996 and broke up in 2007. They themselves described their style as "Melodic Dark Metal".

history

With the self-recorded promo CD Vereinsamt , the band got a record deal with the Austrian label CCP Records . In November 2000 the official debut album Das Leben ein Traum was published, with which one could generate extremely positive feedback in the scene. The second album - The Shadow of an Existence - received positive reviews from the specialist press and was also distributed in Latin America and Russia due to international license agreements. The band's last album was Lichtgestalten in 2004.

On January 2, 2007, the band announced their breakup. Concert dates that have already been confirmed have been canceled.
