Varius
Varier ( Latin vărĭŭs ) was the noun of the gens Varia. Individual representatives of the gens are documented towards the end of the Roman Republic , several in the imperial era . The name later appeared as a cognomen . It is probably derived from the Cognomen Varus .
The most famous representatives are likely to be the later emperor Elagabal and the poet Lucius Varius Rufus .
