Vasilijus Safronovas

Vasilijus Safronovas (born July 21, 1984 in Klaipėda / Memel, Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian historian, cultural scientist and university professor.

Life

After school and high school, Safronovas studied history and history of the Baltic Sea region at the University of Klaipėda . In 2011 he received his doctorate from the University of Klaipėda and the Institute for the History of Lithuania under Alvydas Nikžentaitis (“The competition of identity ideologies in a city in the southeastern Baltic Sea region: Research using the example of Klaipėdas in the 20th century”). Scholarship holder of the Goethe-Institut -Vilnius.

Act

Safronovas mainly conducts research in the Lithuanian-German area, the former Memel region and East Prussia , on the subject of cultures of remembrance , history politics, identity change and the symbolic appropriation of cities. He began his scientific work at the Institute for the History and Archeology of the Baltic Sea Region, where he worked on a project from 2005-2006. 2008-2013 Safronovas was a research assistant, later lecturer and lecturer at the Department of History at Klaipėda University. Since 2009 he has been a project member and since 2010 a research assistant at the Institute for the History of Lithuania. He has also been employed as a research assistant at the Institute for the History and Archeology of the Baltic Sea Region since 2011.
