Libreria Editrice Vaticana

The Libreria Editrice Vaticana ( English : Vatican Publishing House , Latin : Officina libraria editoria Vaticana ) is the Vatican publishing bookstore. Bookstore and publisher emerged in 1926 from the Vatican printing works. A major main task is the publishing and distribution of official files and documents of the Pope and the Holy See . In addition, the publishing bookstore also publishes numerous archival, scientific and other publications by Curia and Vatican employees and authors associated with the Vatican or its institutions.

In 1984 the bookstore was opened in St. Peter's Square and in 2005 it was renamed Libreria Internazionale Giovanni Paolo II . The bookstore has over 450,000 visitors per year (as of January 20, 2012).
