The Vatican Printing House has been one of the other institutions associated with the Roman Curia since it was founded in 1587 .

Pope Sixtus V (1585–1590) founded the Vatican Printing House in 1587 , in which correct Bibles , works by the Church Fathers and liturgical scriptures in Latin , Greek , Hebrew and Syriac should be produced and sold. In 1590 Aldus Manutius the Younger (1547–1597) was called to Rome, where he headed the Vatican printing works under Pope Clement VIII (1592–1605). In 1609 the printing works were placed under the apostolic chamber . Since the year it was founded, the printing house has been responsible for printing and distributing liturgical and legal documents from the papal institutes and dicasteries . 1926 was created under Pius XI. (1922–1939) the Vatican Bookstore ( Libreria Editrice Vaticana ), which now focused on the sale of books and writings that were produced in the printing house.
