The Vatnsfjörður is a fjord in the Westfjords of Iceland .

The 2.5 kilometer wide fjord is the westernmost fjord in Breiðafjörður and extends around 6 kilometers into the country. At the fjord, Vestfjarðavegur leaves the coast and continues north. Along the west bank, the Barðastrandarvegur continues to Patreksfjörður . The ferry from Stykkishólmur and Flatey ends here , at Brjánslækur farm . This area has been under nature protection since 1975 .
