Vavau is a place on the island of Upolu in the district of Atua in Samoa . In 2006 there were 356 inhabitants.

geography

Vavau is on the south coast of Upolu, between Lotofaga and A'ufaga . The settlements of Sasita , Etemuli , as well as Toloavatu and Pinipini are in the vicinity . To-sua and To-le-sua are in the hinterland of Vavau . The coast rises sharply to 40  m . The straight beach has always been a popular tourist destination and there are beach fale to accommodate tourists. The Main South Coast Road connects the places with each other.

The village is part of the Lotofaga Electoral Constituency ( Faipule District ) in Atua District .

religion

In the village is the church EFKS Vavau (Congregational Church).

Attractions

The local resort was a popular excursion and tourist destination. It was destroyed by the 2009 earthquake and tsunami . To the west of the beach is the To-Sua Ocean Trench natural pool .
