Večernji list (German evening paper ) is a Croatian- language daily newspaper from Zagreb . Since 2000 it has been owned by the Austrian Styria Media Group , a stock corporation of the “Catholic Media Association Private Foundation”, which is supported by the association of the same name. The Večernjak , as the newspaper is colloquially called, is one of the most widely read newspapers in Croatia and is considered by many Croatians read throughout Europe.

After the merger of the two daily newspapers Narodni list (German Volksblatt ) and Večernji vjesnik (German evening courier ), the first edition of the Večernji list appeared on July 1, 1959 . Večernji list quickly became one of the most widely read newspapers in all of Croatia, which was mainly due to the fact that it was mainly devoted to classic tabloid topics.

In 1990 Večernji list was politically center-right. In 1998 the newspaper lost readership with the appearance of the daily Jutarnji list . In 2000 it was taken over by the Austrian media group Styria Medien AG, which has since been intensively involved in the Croatian market (see 24 sata ). The daily newspaper is now a successful tabloid.

The Večernji list website is currently one of the most visited Croatian Internet addresses.
