The vedewa r. V. (Association of water supply associations and municipalities with waterworks, later named: Municipal Association for Water, Waste and Energy Management) was an association of several water supply associations and municipalities, especially Baden-Württemberg , that offered engineering services.

history

In 1919 the chairmen of Württemberg group water supplies met to discuss joint management of the water supply systems. The association of water supply associations and municipalities with waterworks (vedewa for short) was finally founded in 1931 by 31 Württemberg water supply associations. In 1933 the association took over partial tasks of the dissolved building authority for the public water supply .

After the Second World War, vedewa set up a maintenance and repair service for the machines, equipment and pumps used. From 1948, the vedewa was used for planning and construction supervision for the reconstruction and construction of the water supply facilities. From 1957 the planning and construction supervision of local sewers and sewage treatment plants for Württemberg municipalities took place. Two years later, the technical management of the water associations was taken over.

In 1968, following the decision of the general assembly, vedewa entered the waste management sector and from then on offered corresponding services. In 1979, the field of work was expanded to include the rational use of energy. As a result of requests for groundwater, landfill gas, soil and air analyzes, the laboratory capacities were continuously expanded from 1984 onwards. In 1987, the area of responsibility was expanded to include the renovation of old systems and municipal IT.

In 1990 an office was opened in Freiberg in Saxony, which offered corresponding services in the field of environmental protection and communal infrastructure in Saxony. In 1991 the Umweltwirtschaft GmbH (UW) was founded. In this company, the areas of waste management, renovation of old systems and occupational safety were outsourced.

In 1996 they moved into a new building in Stuttgart-Weilimdorf (Friolzheimer Str. 3). In 2000, the wave GmbH was founded together with the Zweckverband Bodensee water supply and state water supply . The entire operational business of vedewa was outsourced to this company. In 2002, Neckarwerke Stuttgart Regional AG & Co. KG became the fourth partner with equal rights to participate in the company. On January 1, 2002, the Freiberg office became independent as part of a management buy-out .

On August 8, 2005 wave GmbH had to file for bankruptcy . The reasons given include the office building, which is too large for the number of employees, and the resulting high lease payments. As a result, Umweltwirtschaft GmbH becomes independent as part of a management buy-out with the participation of Klinger und Partner GmbH. The wastewater division was taken over by Weber-Ingenieure GmbH on November 15, 2005, the laboratory was taken over by Agrolab Labor GmbH and the technical infrastructure division was taken over by CDM Consult GmbH .

In 2005 the remaining assets of wave GmbH were taken over by the EnBW subsidiary RBS Genius and in 2006 it was merged to form RBS wave GmbH.
