Vegas Vic
Vegas Vic is the unofficial but often used name for an illuminated Las Vegas landmark that depicts a cowboy .
Designed in 1951, it stood above the Pioneer Club on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.
The Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO) constructed a 23 meter (75 foot) high version of the Vegas Vic, which depicted a cowboy in blue jeans with a yellow spotted shirt. He had a movable arm with a cigarette in hand and a voice that said " Howdy partner" every 15 minutes . The voice was turned off again in 1966 when Lee Marvin complained about the volume. When the Fremont Street Experience was built in 1994 , part of his hat had to be removed to make way for the roof.
