A veiligheidsregio (for example: security region) is an area in the Netherlands in which several services and administrative levels work together on security. It is about the implementation of fire protection , disaster control and crisis management , health aid, public order and security. The term veiligheidsreigo also means the corresponding administrative body. The Regios are based on a corresponding law and the more general law on cooperation between Dutch municipalities.

In the Netherlands there are 25 veiligheidsregio's (so the plural). A region comprises the areas of several municipalities. There is at least one region in a province; larger provinces are divided into several regios. A region has a chairman; this is usually the mayor of the largest parish. The chairmen of all Regios work together in the veiligheidsberaad . This meeting has a chairman and an office.

In the 2019/2020 corona crisis , the mayors' powers to maintain public security were transferred to the chairmen of the regions. Emergency regulations on anti-virus measures have been in effect for the individual regions since March 26, 2020. There are also other provisions. The measures can therefore vary from region to region.
