Veilsdorf is the name of an old Vogtland-Franconian ministerial family.

history

The von Veilsdorf, Veilsch or Veils families are said to have been to Veilsdorf in Thuringia as early as the 9th century . They were probably vassals of the Fulda monastery. The "Knights of Veilsdorf and Massenhausen " were first mentioned in 1195 in connection with the Benedictine nuns monastery Veilsdorf (founded around 1153–1180). In the north-east of the village there was a castle called the " stone house " opposite the Trigelsburg , in which the knights and lords of Veilsdorf had their seat. This castle is said to have been destroyed as early as 1338. In the 15th century the traces of this family are lost.

The von Veilsdorf family line was probably later divided into the following lines: von Zedtwitz , von Feilitzsch , von Roeder , von der Heyde / Heydte , von Hundelshausen, von Machwitz , von Gößnitz , v. Perglas , and possibly the v. Radwitz / Rebitz / Redwitz on. The relationship is presumed partly through the use of the same coat of arms and partly through the proximity to the place.

In the Middle Ages she was related to the following other noble families: von Massenhausen and von Heßberg .
