The family von Redwitz from Redwitz an der Rodach , which also has a different coat of arms, must be distinguished from the family described here . The two headquarters are relatively close to each other and today both belong to the administrative district of Upper Franconia .

The family's ancestral seat was the Redwitz Castle in Marktredwitz . After the Redwitz Castle had already been converted into a town hall and a church for the Redwitz market in 1384, the family can be found on various manors in the vicinity of Marktredwitz:
During the Hussite Wars , the Sparneckers , including Hans von Sparneck , complained to the council in Eger in 1427 that the von Redwitz people had misled their subjects into disobedience so that they could not provide the required wagon for a campaign against the Hussites.
The grave stone of Georg von Redwitz from the 16th century in the old cemetery in Marktredwitz reminds of this extinct family.

According to Siebmacher's heraldic book, the heraldic shield is divided into silver, black and red. The helmet covers are red and silver. The crowned helmet ornament is a tournament hat in the colors of the shield with attached feathers. The tinging of the coat of arms at the Lorenzreuther Schloss is different from this in turquoise, silver and black. There are coats of arms above the entrance of the Old Castle in Lorenzreuth and the Anna Church in Oberredwitz .
