Redwitz an der Rodach (officially: Redwitz adRodach ) is a municipality in the district of Lichtenfels ( administrative district of Upper Franconia ) and the seat of the administrative community Redwitz an der Rodach .

geography

In Redwitz the Steinach flows into the Rodach , which flows five kilometers behind Redwitz into the Main . Redwitz lies in the middle between Lichtenfels and Kronach . The municipality of Redwitz consists of the main town Redwitz and the four districts Unterlangenstadt , Mannsgereuth , Trainau and Obristfeld .

history

The first documentary mention was made in 1231 with Lisa von Kurzewind, "uxor Cunradi de Redewitz". The noble family von Redwitz was first mentioned in 1250 with Erchinpert "de Redewitz".

On April 1, 1972, Obristfeld, part of the previously independent community of Neuses am Main , was incorporated. Trainau followed on July 1, 1972. On April 1, 1975 Unterlangenstadt was added. The series of incorporations came to an end with the incorporation of Mannsgereuth on May 1, 1978.

Population development

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the municipality grew from 3,275 to 3,405 by 130 inhabitants or 4%. On December 31, 1997, Redwitz an der Rodach had 3474 inhabitants.

Redwitz has a stop at the Frankenwaldbahn and is on the B173 federal road .

Resident companies are Lapp Insulators (ceramics) and Metalor (electrical contacts).

In the community there is the kindergarten and the crèche “Grünschnabel” and the kindergarten Mannsgereuth. On March 1, 2012, 175 places were occupied. In the 2011/2012 school year, 294 pupils attended the Albert Blankertz School (elementary school and middle school).

The municipality of Redwitz has an outdoor swimming pool with a 50-meter water basin and a children's area. Large lawns and a beach volleyball field are also available. The outdoor pool has a kiosk. Lifeguards monitor swimming operations. There is a mini golf course with a cozy beer garden in the immediate vicinity of the outdoor pool. A large sports club (TV Redwitz), a tennis club (Siemens-Tennisclub Redwitz e.V.) and a soccer club (1. FC Redwitz) offer residents many sporting activities: soccer, gymnastics, volleyball, mountain biking and walking.

Redwitz has a DSL fiber optic network with up to 100 Mb / s.

A substation is the starting point for 380 kV lines to Altenfeld and Remptendorf in Thuringia
