Max Gütermann

Max Gütermann (born October 12, 1828 in Redwitz an der Rodach ; † August 30, 1895 in Gutach im Breisgau ) was a German entrepreneur and founder of the textile company Gütermann of the same name .

Max Gütermann came from a wealthy, respected family who had been in the textile trade for generations.

In 1854 Max Gütermann married Sophie Kohn from Lichtenfels . Together with the six children Fanny, Carl, Julius, Alexander, Ludwig and Rudolf, the family moved to Gutach im Breisgau in 1868. Max and Sophie had 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 118 great-great-grandchildren and well over 200 great-great-great-grandchildren. There are now descendants in the eighth generation.

The family was one of the first owners of a Benz Victoria - the first four-wheel vehicle from Benz & Cie.

In 1924, the Gütermanns laid out what is now the second oldest golf course in Baden-Württemberg in Gutach .

As a family member Anna Maria (called "Anita") Gütermann (* October 2, 1917) was known as Anna Maria Gütermann, first marriage surname Sauest († February 16, 2015), who from 1942 to 1958 in second marriage with the Austrian Conductor Herbert von Karajan was married.

In 1957, grandson Richard C. Gütermann was a member of the Deutsche Bank Supervisory Board .
