Obristfeld is a district of the Upper Franconian municipality Redwitz an der Rodach in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The parish village is about twelve kilometers east of Lichtenfels on a slope above the Main valley . The district road LIF 21 leads through Obristfeld from Redwitz to Neuses am Main .

history

The first documentary mention was made in 1096 with the person Gundeloh "de Oberstenuelt" as a witness in a document from the Bamberg monastery about Burgkunstadt . A pastor is recorded for the year 1290. In 1299 Kunemund ( canon at Bamberg Cathedral) and his brother Albert von Giech , a Bamberg knight, sold their goods in "Oberstenuelt" to the Langheim monastery , among other things . In 1367 the place was assigned to the monastery. The Lords of Redwitz had church patronage . In 1561 the first official Protestant pastor was introduced.

In 1801 the center belonged to the office of the bishopric in Weismain , the village and community authority to the Langheim monastery. The fiefdom of the monastery consisted of five houses with barns. Another five houses with barns and an undeveloped property were controllable by the Weismain office.

Obristfeld belonged as part of the rural community of Neuses am Main to the Obermainkreis . In 1862, the village was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Lichtenfels .

In 1875 Obristfeld had 148 residents and 58 buildings. The parish village had its own Protestant school and belongs to the Michelau dean's office. In 1900 the rural community of Neuses am Main, together with Obristfeld, covered an area of ​​421.17 hectares, 281 inhabitants, of which 29 were Catholic and 252 Protestant, and 49 residential buildings. 142 people lived in Obristfeld in 24 residential buildings. The place belonged to the district of the Catholic parish of Altenkunstadt, 6.5 kilometers away . In 1925, 136 people lived in 25 residential buildings in the parish village. 1950 the place had 207 inhabitants and 26 residential buildings. In 1970 Obristfeld had 165 residents and in 1987 210 residents and 55 residential buildings with 67 apartments.

The incorporation to Redwitz an der Rodach took place on April 1, 1972. The district of Neuses of the previous municipality moved to Burgkunstadt.

Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Nicholas

The Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Nikolaus was built in 1707 as a replacement for a medieval church. The hall church has a pulpit altar and an organ with ten registers . The organ builder Bittner installed the instrument from 1870. The two smallest bells of the peal come from the 16th century. The parish, to which the villages of Horb, Zettlitz and Burgstall belong, has around 250 members (as of 2016).
