Veit Hennig (* 1961) is a German biologist and lecturer in zoology and nature conservation at the Institute of Zoology in the Animal Ecology & Nature Conservation group at the Grindel Biozentrum at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Veit Hennig studied biology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . There he did his doctorate on the breeding biology of the bigua shark ( Phalacrocorax brasilianus ) in Colombia. From 1994 he worked as a freelance expert on topics in biotope and species protection.

At the Naturschutzbund Deutschland , Landesverband Baden-Württemberg, he was a consultant for species and biotope protection, in 1998 he became a lecturer at the University of Hamburg and was chairman of the Jordsand association from 2002 to 2005 . Today he is on the advisory board of this nature conservation association.

Veit Hennig is in charge of the "Nature Conservation and Landscape Ecology" department in the project for regional climate adaptation, Klimzug Nord . His research focuses on nature conservation biology , urban ecology , invasive species and the ecology of special habitats ( Wadden Sea, etc.). In terms of animal ecology, he deals with the avifauna and mammalia .
