Vena cerebri magna (" great cerebral vein ")

The Vena cerebri magna (Latin for "large cerebral vein "; also: Vena magna cerebri , Galen vein, Vena Galeni) belongs to the inner drainage vessels of the brain . It is an unpaired vein in the roof of the third ventricle (ventriculus tertius) in the human brain, which is created by the confluence of the two internal cerebral veins ( Venae internae cerebri ) and opens into the sinus rectus . There is a direct inflow from the posterior bar vein ( vena posterior corporis callosi ).

The basal ganglia , the thalamus , the medullary bed and the lateral ventricles belong to its inflow area .
