Vengeance Rising is a thrash metal band from the USA . She was one of the first bands from the Christian scene in this genre and became known through it. The band fell apart, however, when singer Roger Martinez turned away from his beliefs; despite his attempts to build on earlier successes, no new album has been released since 1992.

Band history

"Vengeance" was formed in 1986 from a band called "Sacrifice", which consisted of Doug Thieme, Glenn Rogers (later on " Deliverance ", now " Hirax ") and Brian Khairullah (later on " Deliverance "). During this time, songs were already written that would later appear on the first album ("White Throne", "Burn", "Human Sacrifice"), in whose songwriting Glenn Rogers played a significant part. There were then some line-up changes, Brian Khairullah was replaced by Roger Martin, Glenn Rogers by Larry Farkas, Glen Mancaruso and Roger Martinez joined the band. At this point "Sacrifice" was renamed "Vengeance". The band was in close contact with the Christian community Sanctuary Church .

In 1988 a demo was released, in 1989 the first full-lentgh album " Human Sacrifice " followed. Shortly afterwards "Vengeance" got into legal problems because of the name that was already used by another band, the problem was solved by adding "Rising" to the name. Only 1000 CDs were produced without the word "Rising" under the "Vengeance" logo. This and the next album (" Once Dead ") were successful and made the band known in the scene. After the “Once Dead” tour, the band got into debt, so all but Martinez left the band and founded “ Die Happy ”.

Martinez intended to continue the band work under the previous name Vengeance Rising , and gathered new musicians around him. On the next album (“ Destruction Comes ”) Chris Hyde played drums , Derek Sean played guitar , while Martinez played electric bass and guitar in addition to the vocals .

For the album " Released upon the Earth " he then engaged the drummer Johnny Vasquez, bassist Joe Monsorbnik and guitarist Jamie Mitchell. For the following live performances George Ochoa came on guitar. Although the band managed to release two new albums, the debt could not be paid off and they eventually fell apart completely. In 1993 the record company ( Intense Records ) released a best of Vengeance Rising album. (" Anthology ").

Martinez, who was pastor at Sanctuary, began to doubt his belief. He felt betrayed and abandoned, turned away from the faith, called himself an atheist and took an extremely contrary attitude to his previous beliefs. "Vengeance Rising" has been completely changed again. He created a website where, among other things, he published articles directed against the people he felt betrayed by.

For Halloween 2000 he announced an album called " Realms of Blasphemy ", but it never came out. In 2004, the members of the lineup of the first two albums, with the exception of Roger Martinez, played a reunion concert under the name " Once Dead ". Then Martinez tried again to put a complete lineup on the legs; "Vengeance Rising" played a concert in August 2006 in St. Louis.
