The "Venus von Bellach" is a statue of Venus from what is now Switzerland . It was found in Bellach in the Swiss canton of Solothurn .

The dating of the Venus von Bellach is difficult because hardly dated large-format Venus statuettes are known. One must therefore compare the general style elements . In this regard, the ideal of the body must be considered, but not the composition and processing, as the quality of the workmanship would otherwise obscure features that are critical of style. Evidence such as the comparison with statues from the Villa Hadriana in Tivoli (before the year of death of the Roman emperor Hadrian in 138 AD) make the emergence of Venus von Bellach at the beginning of the 2nd century CE likely.

The direct model of Venus von Bellach cannot be clearly identified. However, it stands in a long tradition, which roughly speaking includes , among others, Aphrodite of Knidos and the Venus of the Medici.

The Venus von Bellach was rediscovered in the 1680s. After eventful years (privately owned by several nobles), it is now owned by the community of Solothurn.
