Official names of structures on celestial bodies are given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). The lists are administered by the US Geological Survey (USGS) in the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature (see web links). They are updated online.

Of the almost 1000 identified impact craters on Venus , almost 900 have been named so far and are included in this list. Craters on Venus are named after:

  • Women who have achieved something extraordinary or fundamental in their field (crater diameter over 20 km)
  • female first names (crater diameter less than 20 km)

For some eponyms , the persons concerned could not be determined. In these cases the name was not linked. In the case of first names, the IAU attribution of origin was adopted, regardless of whether this is correct.

Due to the size, the list of named craters on Venus has been distributed to subpages.
