Alexandra Dionissijewna Danilowa

Danilova is an impact crater on the planet Venus . It was named after the Russian ballet dancers Maria Danilowa (1793-1810) and Alexandra Dionissijewna Danilowa (1903-1997). Its diameter is 49 kilometers.

location

The crater lies within the vast plains prevailing on Venus at 26.4 ° south and 337.2 ° east. It is surrounded by Aglaonice crater to the east and Saskia crater to the south . The group of craters is located between the Ushas Mons volcano from Dione Regio in the west and Alpha Regio in the east.

description

The crater was created by the impact of an asteroid . It belongs to the class of central summit craters . The diameter of the central structure is 12.7 km and the width of the crater wall is about 6 km. The image of the Magellan space probe shows the radar-bright central peak , which is surrounded by the dark crater floor and the crater wall. The light, because rougher, environment shows the ejecta ceiling - the area where the material ejected by the impact fell. There are also traces of material left behind that flowed in a river-like system - similar to that on the northern rim of Aglaonice - up to 77 km from the southern rim of the crater .
