Vera Dreyfus-de Gunzburg

Vera Dreyfus-de Gunzburg (born November 15, 1898 in St. Petersburg ; died June 1, 1972 in Basel ) was a Swiss refugee worker, women's rights activist and member of the Günzburg Jewish - Russian banking family .

Life

Vera Dreyfus-de Gunzburg was a daughter of the banker Alexander von Günzburg . She grew up in St. Petersburg , fled to Paris after the February Revolution in 1917 and lived in Basel from 1923 . During the Second World War , she and her husband, the Swiss banker Paul Dreyfus, campaigned for Jewish refugees . She was also active on the board of the Swiss Jewish Welfare Association. From 1949 to 1966 she was President of the Federation of Swiss Jewish Women's Organizations (BSJF) and from 1957 to 1968 she was a board member of the Federation of Swiss Women's Organizations (BSF). From 1968 to 1972 Dreyfus-de Gunzburg was a member of the board of directors of the Swiss private bank Dreyfus Söhne & Cie in Basel.
