Verbal Abuse is an American crossover band from San Francisco , California that was formed in 1981, disbanded in 1996, and reunited in 2005.

history

The band was formed in 1981 in Houston , Texas by singer Nicki Sicki after he left his band Sick Pleasure . In 1982 the band went to San Francisco. Towards the end of the year, the band reached a contract with Fowl Records and recorded their debut album Just an American Band , which was released in early 1983. The release was followed by a tour. Meanwhile, bassist Brett Dodwell left the band and was replaced by Dave "Koko" Chavez. In 1984 singer Sicki left the band and was replaced by Scotty Wilkins, singer with Condemned to Death . In 1986 the next album Rocks Your Liver was released on Boner Records . The release was followed by tours before guitarist Mastrokalos left the band in 1987 and was replaced by Andy Schuman. A short time later, drummer Gregg James left the band and was replaced by ex-Condemned-to-Death member Mike Chubka. In 1989, Chris Kontos replaced Chubka again before the band embarked on a European tour . The tour included 38 performances in 42 days. In the same year, the live album Passport - Verbal Abuse of America was released on Destiny Records . The band was inactive from 1990 to 1993 before releasing the album Red, White and Violent through Century Media in 1995. The release was followed by a tour before the group broke up the following year when Scotty Wilkins joined the band Electric Frankenstein . In 2005 the band got back together.

The band plays a mixture of hardcore punk and thrash metal, the music being comparable to that of Dirty Rotten Imbeciles and Suicidal Tendencies .
