Association of Hanover Ball Game Clubs
The Association of Hannoverscher Ballspiel-Vereine (VHBV) was a local football association in Hanover . The VHBV was founded on July 1st, 1903 by the clubs ARBV Hannover , FC Hannover 96 , FC Eintracht 1898 Hannover, FV Hannovera 1898, FV Germania 1902 Hannover, SC 1902 Hannover and SV Niedersachsen 1903 Hannover. A little later, BV Hannover and SV Kleeblatt 1896 Hannover also joined the new association.
In the first few years, football had a hard time gaining a foothold in Hanover and sparking interest, as rugby had developed into the dominant sport in just a few years (in clubs mostly called football clubs). As a result, the number of member clubs grew only very slowly over the next few years.
The first championship of the VHBV was held in one division in the 1903/04 season. Champion was the ARBV 1898 Hanover, which then also took part in the final round of the German championship , but then withdrew permanently from the game.
At the beginning of September 1906 the Association of Hannoverscher Ballspiel-Vereine dissolved and henceforth formed District VII Hanover of the North German Football Association .
