Association of Museums in Switzerland

The Association of Museums in Switzerland (VMS), French Association des musées suisses , Italian Associazione dei musei svizzeri , is the interest group for museums in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein . It has its office in the Swiss National Museum in Zurich .

The association was founded in 1966. In 1996 he initiated the Swiss Museum Pass together with the Federal Office for Culture and Switzerland Tourism . The VMS is a partner of ICOM-Switzerland, the Swiss national committee of the International Council of Museums .

The association has over 670 institutional members and represents the interests of all Swiss museums vis-à-vis the authorities and the public. It promotes contacts among museums, sets standards and serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences. In addition, the association is the publisher of the regularly updated Swiss museum guide as well as of Info: Bulletin of the Association of Museums in Switzerland .
