Association of the North-East German Textile and Clothing Industry

The Association of the North-East German Textile and Clothing Industry e. V. (vti) is an employers' association in the new federal states. Its members are around 165 small and medium-sized companies, most of which are based in Saxony and Thuringia. The East German textile and clothing industry in total comprises 350 companies with around 16,000 employees. Chairman (since 2018) is Thomas Lindner, Managing Director of Strumpfwerk Lindner GmbH, Hohenstein-Ernstthal.

The vti was created on April 1, 1990 through the merger of the East German textile and clothing industries . On June 13, 1996 he joined the Friends of the Textile and Clothing Industry. V. and the Association of the Central German Clothing Industry e. V. at. The office is in Chemnitz . Bertram Höfer was the general manager until 2017. His successor is Jenz Otto. The vti is one of ten regional associations in the Gesamtverband der deutschen Textil- und Modeindustrie e. V. ("Gesamtverband textil + mode").

Members and cooperation partners also include teaching and research institutions such as Forschungskuratorium Textil eV, Textile Research Institute Thuringia / Vogtland eV, Thuringian Institute for Textile and Plastics Research eV, Saxon Textile Research Institute eV The Institute for Textile Machinery and Textile High-Performance Materials Technology (ITM ) of the TU Dresden and the Institute for Textile and Leather Technology (ITL) of the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau in Reichenbach .

The representation of interests includes activities in collective bargaining and social policy, legal work, vocational training and further education, environmental protection and the energy industry, financing and economic development, public relations and lobbying. The vti publishes the magazine "vti aktuell" three times a year.
