The Association of Catholic Aid for the Elderly in Germany V. (VKAD) was founded in Cologne in 1963 as an association of homes and facilities for Catholic elderly care in Germany and is a professional association in the German Caritas Association . It has had its current name since 2006. Its task is to advise and represent the interests of Catholic old people's homes , social centers and nursing schools in Germany. In 2013 the association had 1133 member institutions. It is based in Freiburg im Breisgau .
