The Association of Church Archives is part of the Working Group of Archives and Libraries in the Protestant Church (AABevK) . The association has 62 Protestant archives, including in particular regional church archives, diaconal and mission archives. The office of the Association of Church Archives is located in the Regional Church Archives in Karlsruhe at Blumenstrasse 1–7 in Karlsruhe; Udo Wennemuth is in charge of management.

tasks

The association fulfills tasks that cannot be carried out by individual archives. This includes the discussion of fundamental questions in archiving law and archiving technology, the publication of the association journal Aus Evangelischen Archiven , the organization of advanced training events as well as contacts to the Association of German archivists and to the Catholic colleagues in the Federal Conference of Church Archives in Germany.

history

As a sub-association, the Association of Church Archives has been part of the AABevK since 1979, together with the Association of Church-Scientific Libraries . The working group is an institution of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) with statutes and its own budget.
