Hermann Kuhr (archivist)

Hermann Kuhr (born March 25, 1938 in Bad Berneck ; † March 6, 2013 ) was a German archivist and historian .

Life

Hermann Kuhr was born in Bad Berneck in 1938 as the son of a pastor and grew up in Günzburg and Ansbach . He eventually studied Protestant theology and sociology and then completed training as an archivist. After this training he accepted a position as regional church archivist of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church in Braunschweig in Wolfenbüttel and stayed that way for his entire life. He was instrumental in building the archive. In June 1967 Hermann Kuhr became a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Archives Section in the Working Group of Archives and Libraries in the Protestant Church , of which he became Section Head in March 1977. Furthermore, he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Society for Lower Saxony Church History since 1972 . On March 31, 2011, Kuhr retired.

Kuhr died in March 2013. His grave is in his last place of residence, Mascherode .
