Association of private urban cleaning companies

VPS e. V. (Association of private urban cleaning companies) was an association of entrepreneurs founded by the private waste management industry. The Federal Association of German Waste Management, Water and Raw Materials Management (BDE) e. V. emerged.

The VPS e. V. was initially a professional association that informed its members about current developments in laws and municipal technology through regular circulars and events. From 1976 onwards, the association also acted as an employer representative, as evidenced by the negotiation of a collective agreement with the ÖTV trade union. In addition to member information and tariff policy, public relations work for the private waste management industry has been one of the areas of responsibility of VPS e. V.

history

On September 20, 1961 in Offenbach am Main the VPS e. V., the abbreviation of which initially stood for Association of Urban Cleaning Trade, was founded on the initiative of Gustav Edelhoff . The association was entered in the register of associations of the Iserlohn District Court on January 8, 1962. The association already had 41 members when it was founded. At the annual general meeting in 1962 the association was renamed "Association of private urban cleaning companies". Against the background of changed areas of responsibility within urban cleaning, such as recycling , the name was changed to BDE e. V. At this time, the VPS e. V. approx. 550 members with a total of 40,000 employees and an annual turnover of 5 billion DM. The first office was located in Iserlohn from January 1962 . In 1976 the office and the association's headquarters moved to Cologne-Porz .

The VPS has been running the ENTSORGA trade fair since 1980 through its wholly-owned subsidiary ENTSORGA, a non-profit company for the promotion of waste management and urban cleaning. The trade fair location was initially Essen , and from 1991 Cologne . From 2010 the ENTSORGA will be organized together with the IFAT .
