Life

After an apprenticeship as a locksmith and simultaneously attended evening - business school he was from the town of Iserlohn as a fitter and in April 1924 drivers set. The journeyman's certificate for auto mechanics was followed by the master's title in 1930. During the years when cleaning the city in Iserlohn, Gustav Edelhoff developed a new type of sweeping brush that made it easier to replace the bristles from Piassava that wore out quickly . In 1932 Gustav Edelhoff was promoted to head of the city's vehicle fleet. As a result, he pushed the conversion to the new system ash bins from the manufacturer Schmidt & Melmer . Iserlohn's garbage disposal was fully motorized in 1935 - the first town in a wide area. Gustav Edelhoff took part in the Second World War as a Schirrmeister for two years before he was placed on the intervention of the city of Iserlohn uk in 1941 . In the post-war period, Edelhoff continued to build a modern depot.

In 1952, Gustav Edelhoff set up his own institute for hygiene in Iserlohn in the field of faeces removal after the city was no longer willing to take on this task in the surrounding communities. A year later, the waste collection was supplemented by the garbage collection business; Edelhoff also bought a FAUN reel drum collection vehicle. In 1967, EDELHOFF GmbH disposed of the household waste from a million people. In 1972, EDELHOFF GmbH started a large-scale test in the municipality of Letmathe with the new type of large waste container MGB 240 , which was largely developed by Edelhoff . This marked the beginning of the success story of the MGB 240 , which is now used around the world. One month before his death, he and his son presented the MSTS (multi-service-transportation-system) system, which should be groundbreaking for the future development of waste disposal vehicle technology. It consists of a specially designed collection vehicle interchangeable container to receive compacted waste, which is filled and deposited at collection points so that the collection vehicle can drive back to the collection area, while several full containers can be transported by larger collection vehicles for further use.
