The Association of Catholic Clinics in Düsseldorf (VKKD) is a regional non-profit holding company founded in 2003. It maintains five hospitals and a health center with a day clinic in Düsseldorf as well as a rehabilitation and therapy clinic in Meerbusch , which can be divided into over 40 specialist clinics, medical centers and institutes.

The VKKD employs around 3,000 people (as of 2015) and has 1,500 beds (as of 2017). Every year around 150,000 patients are cared for in the clinics (as of 2016). The VKKD has four academic teaching hospitals that work together with the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

history

In the summer of 2003, the Mörsenbroich-Rath GmbH (KMR) hospital , consisting of the Augusta hospital , the Elbroich hospital , the Marienkrankenhaus Kaiserswerth and the St. Mauritius therapy clinic , and the Caritative Vereinigung GmbH (responsible for the St. Vinzenz hospital and the Katharina Labouré nursing home ) joined forces ) to form the Association of Katholischer Kliniken Düsseldorf gGmbH (VKKD). In August 2007 the Marien Hospital Düsseldorf joined the association.
