Cross of Merit (Prussia)

The Cross of Merit was donated by King Wilhelm II of Prussia on January 27, 1912 and could be awarded to anyone who had rendered services to the Kingdom of Prussia , regardless of nationality .

Order classes

  • I. class (gold)
  • II class (silver)

In special cases a gold or silver crown could be awarded to the Cross of Merit .

Order decoration

The medal is a gold-plated or silver-plated Maltese cross . In the applied medallion the entwined and crowned letters WR (Wilhelm Rex). This representation is repeated on the reverse.

When awarded with a crown, it is attached to the upper cross arm and holds the carrying ring.

Carrying method

The award was worn on a blue ribbon with wide yellow stripes on the left side of the chest.

Others

The Cross of Merit had to be returned after the owner's death or when a higher level was awarded.
