The medal of merit for the staff of the railway company was initially without a medal only as a ribbon medal on January 17, 1918 by King Viktor Emanuel III. donated by Italy . The award was given to the staff of the Italian railway company in recognition of their achievements in the transport sector during the First World War . In 1923 a medal was added to the ribbon, which is the same as the commemorative medal for the Italian-Austrian war . The band shows two vertical white central stripes on a red base color.
