Around the coat of arms is the inscription: FOR THE PROTECTION OF WORKERS AND FARMING POWER . The subsequent edge of the medal is covered by a large laurel wreath on which two crossed daggers are placed below . The reverse of the medal shows the five-line inscription: DESERVED / ANGEBELLER / DER / ZIVILVERTEIDIGUNG / DER DDR .

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a pentagonal clasp with a silver-gray coated ribbon and a gold laurel group. Two vertical wine-red stripes are woven into the ribbon itself, the outer one 0.5 mm wide and the inner 2 mm wide. The distance from the hem is 3 mm to the first inner strip, with the second strip then continuing 0.5 mm. The interim clasp is of the same quality and also shows the gold laurel group in the middle as a miniature.
