Association of Lower Saxony Educational Initiatives
The Association of Lower Saxony Educational Initiatives (VNB) is a Hanover- based association of 47 member organizations that carry out self-organized educational work with different focus areas .
history
The association was founded on June 12, 1983. It sees itself as an educational institution for non-governmental organizations in Lower Saxony. In 1990 the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture recognized it as a state institution for adult education under the Lower Saxony Adult Education Act.
meaning
In the VNB-Bildungswerk, people and institutions from the ecological movement , the peace movement and the one-world movement work together. Further focal points are the areas of global and intercultural learning as well as gender-related educational work ( gender area ). The main goals of the VNB educational work include the promotion of individual self-realization , political participation and social engagement on an equal footing .
Three regional offices and the state office in Hanover coordinate cooperation with over 200 educational initiatives and conference centers throughout Lower Saxony. In this educational network around 3800 people are mainly volunteers. The members of the VNB include the Heimvolkshochschule Akademie Waldschlösschen and the Association for Development Policy Lower Saxony .
The VNB operates nationwide as a sending organization for weltwärts , the international voluntary service of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Together with Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , he is the donor of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Lower Saxony - Life and Environment Foundation. He works with other regional associations of independent alternative further education, z. B. the state working group for another further education in North Rhine-Westphalia , the state working group for other learning in Rhineland-Palatinate and the state working group for political-cultural education in Brandenburg within the framework of the federal working group for other further education eV
In 2018, 13,152 participants took advantage of the training courses offered by the VNB as part of the Lower Saxony Adult Education Act. Then there are the visitors to the conferences and the mobile learning exhibitions . The VNB exhibition project Anne Frank - a story for today was awarded the Innovation Prize 2013 of the Lower Saxony Confederation for independent adult education .
Projects of the DSO
- Mobile learning exhibitions
The VNB creates multimedia exhibitions that are mobile and are awarded nationwide. This is currently the following exhibition:
- People on the run (in cooperation with "missio Aachen")
- International cooperation
The DSO works on transnational projects with partners from all over Europe and the global south. Contents of the cooperation are u. a. education for sustainable development, the promotion of measures for the integration and inclusion of vulnerable groups and the testing of new methods in adult education.
