Verena Pietzner (* 1973 ) is a German educator and professor for chemistry didactics at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg .

Life

From 1992 to 1997 she studied chemistry and mathematics for secondary levels I and II at Bielefeld University and then completed her legal clerkship at the Paderborn study seminar from 1998 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2002 she did her doctorate with Rainer Herges at the Technical University of Braunschweig and at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel . She then worked from 2002 to 2009 as a habilitation student and research assistant to Kerstin Höner at the TU Braunschweig at the Institute for Didactics of Natural Sciences in the Department of Chemistry and Chemistry Didactics. Her activity as a university lecturer began in 2007 when she represented a professorship for chemistry education at the University of Würzburg , before taking on the chair (W2) for physical chemistry and chemistry education at the University of Koblenz-Landau from 2009 to 2013 . Between 2009 and 2013 she was professor of chemistry and its didactics at the University of Hildesheim , before moving to the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg as professor (W3) for chemistry didactics in March 2014 . Pietzner has been Vice President for Studies, Teaching and International Affairs at the University of Oldenburg since 2020.
