Vereniging Natuurmonumenten

Vereniging tot Behoud van Natuurmonumenten in Nederland is a Dutch non-profit organization based in 's-Graveland .

The organization was founded in 1905 by Jac. P. Thijsse founded. It buys, protects and manages nature reserves in the Netherlands. The first area the organization bought in 1905 was used to protect the Naardermeer in North Holland . In 2010 it managed 355 areas with a total area of ​​1029.51 km². The largest is De Wieden (58.47 km²), the smallest Fort Ellewoutsdijk (0.01 km²). It owns 1700 buildings, 250 of which are architectural monuments. In 2010 it had 768,000 members.
