Traffic ecology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The traffic ecology is the science of human system-traffic environment.

Fields of activity

Traffic ecology deals with the (mostly undesired) effects of mobility on the natural and anthropogenic quality of space, taking into account social, normative, economic and ecological limits of mobility. For this purpose, traffic ecology uses scientific methods from various disciplines with the aim of analyzing and describing different effects and relationships of the human-traffic-environment system. Wherever it is used as an auxiliary science for traffic planning and traffic policy , traffic ecology should look for solutions that conserve resources , but not without concealing the underlying value standards ( normative level), but on the contrary to prominently declare them as the starting point for planning or, if necessary, to discuss them.
