Traffic safety material

The traffic safety trailer ( VSA ) is a mostly single-axle fire truck trailer that is used for traffic safety tasks .

purpose

A VSA is mostly used by fire brigades on multi-lane roads (e.g. motorways). The purpose is to warn road users or to divert or stop traffic.

Construction and equipment

The VSA therefore carries extensive equipment for traffic protection. These include, for example , traffic cones, traffic cone lights , beckoning trowels , etc. The main focus of the traffic safety trailer is the large warning device at the rear, which can be opened at the place of use. Since the VSA can only be used as a towing vehicle in conjunction with other fire fighting vehicles, it does not have radio transmission.

standardization

The VSA was standardized according to DIN 14503 until 2003 (see also list of DIN standards / DIN 1–49999 ). The successor standards DIN 14521 and DIN 14962 only contain fire service trailers with foam / water guns (FwA-SWW) or boat trailers .

Bavaria is the only federal state that has allowed the old DIN standard to live on as part of a technical building specification. As a result, traffic safety trailers in Bavaria are still procured and subsidized for fire brigades with towing vehicles and corresponding highways in their area of responsibility.
