The publisher M in the Berlin City Museum was founded in 2008 to mark the 100th birthday of the Märkisches Museum on Köllnischen Park in Berlin by the Director General of the Berlin City Museum Foundation founded Franziska Nentwig and its subsidiary, City Museum Berlin GmbH. Christine Friedrich was the publisher from 2008 to 2017, and Jan Mende has been the program manager since 2018.
