Theodor Max Missmann (born June 27, 1874 in Berlin ; † October 3, 1945 there ) was a German photographer.

Life

Missmann, son of a watchmaker, initially trained as a decorator, but then switched to training at the Zander & Labisch photographic studio . Missmann completed his master's degree and opened his own photo studio in 1903 at Skalitzer Straße 45, near the Görlitz train station and directly opposite the Emmaus Church . Soon after, he moved the studio to Kottbusser Ufer 57 (today: Fraenkelufer / Paul-Lincke-Ufer) and now traded under the name of Photographisches Institut für Architektur, Industrie und Illustration . The company headquarters changed several times, most recently to SW 61 in Gneisenaustraße 22 / Zossener Straße , where he lived and worked until the house was destroyed in a bomb attack in January 1944.

Missmann specialized in industrial photography and architecture and landscape photography. His recorded recordings are particularly significant as witnesses to the development of Berlin after the turn of the century (similar to those of his contemporary Waldemar Titzenthaler ). A collection of his photos is now in the Berlin State Archives .

Missmann had been married to Marie Starke since 1906 and had three daughters. He was buried in the cemetery of the Friedrichswerder community on Bergmannstrasse .
