Publishing bookstore I. Guttentag
The Immanuel Guttentag publishing house bookstore was a German publisher based in Berlin .
It was primarily a legal publisher whose program and profile are determined by the extensive collections and commentaries of the codified law.
The publisher is named after Immanuel Guttentag (1815 or 1817–1862), who acquired the book publisher of the Trautwein company (founded in 1820) in 1842. After his death, ownership and forms of the publishing house changed several times. Hugo Heimann was the sole owner from 1890 to 1898 . Since 1871 the "Guttentagsche Sammlung Deutscher Reichsgesetze" (237 vol., 1895-1949) and the "Guttentagsche Sammlung Preußischer Gesetzes" (68 vol., 1873-1944) have been published here. Gottlieb Planck , the main designer of the BGB , Rudolf von Gneist , Ludwig Ebermayer , Hermann Staub and Carl Ludwig von Bar were among the authors of Guttentag, who also wrote the BGB commentary by the Reich Court Councils (1888, 12th edition 1974ff [ed . Members of the Federal Court of Justice ]) and Franz v. Liszt's "Textbook of German Criminal Law " (1881, 26th edition 1932) and his "Journal for the entire criminal law science " (1881ff, 2001 in the 113th volume) were published. - In 1898 Walter de Gruyter joined the management of Guttentagschen Verlag. In 1919 this was then completely absorbed by his publishing house. The publishing program was continued there as the Guttentag Collection (260 titles); various works from it are continued and reissued to this day.
