Note for international consignments
The German-speaking postal companies (such as Deutsche Post AG , Österreichische Post AG and Die Schweizerische Post ) stipulate, in accordance with the agreements in the Universal Postal Union (UPU), for shipments to non-German-speaking countries that the designation for the type of shipment must be given in two languages, Generally in German and French (universal postal language), possibly also in a language generally known in the country of destination.
Essentially, these terms are common:
- Consignment for the blind / cécograms
- Letter / lettre
- International express / express
- Registered / Recommandé
- By hand / A remettre en main propre
- Return receipt / Avis de reception
- Value / Valeur déclarée
- Airmail light letter / Aérogramme
- Airmail / Par avion / Prioritaire
- Postcard / Carte postale
- Post restante / Poste restante
- Cash on delivery / remborsement
- Sender / shipping agent
- Recipient / Destinataire
- Country of destination / Pays de destination
