Verner Island is an island off the Mawson Coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In the group of Jocelyn Islands in Holme Bay , it lies immediately west of Petersen Island .
Norwegian cartographers used aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 to map the island. Scientists on one of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions carried out a new mapping in 1956. It is named after Verner Pedersen, senior officer on board the research vessel Thala Dan in 1961.
