Veronica Lario

Veronica Lario is the stage name of Miriam Raffaella Bartolini (born July 19, 1956 in Bologna ). She is a former Italian actress and was the second wife of the entrepreneur and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi from 1990 to 2010 .

life and career

Lario starred in television productions in the 1970s, later also in films by Dario Argento ( Tenebrae , 1982) and Lina Wertmüller ( The friend of my wife , 1984).

She gave up her film and theater work after meeting Berlusconi. Lario and Berlusconi have three children together, Barbara (1984), Eleonora (1986) and Luigi (1988). As the wife of the Italian Prime Minister, Lario mostly stayed in the background and avoided public appearances. She rarely accompanied her husband on official occasions. At the same time, she was known for making public her political opinions that differed from her husband's positions on various occasions. In May 2009, she filed for divorce as a result of a political affair over former showgirls her husband was running for the European elections.

Veronica Lario holds 38% of the shares in the daily newspaper Il Foglio .

In October 2013, an appeals court reduced her monthly maintenance claim from 3 to 1.4 million euros.
