With the Regulation on the educational background and the Baccalaureate in the sixth form (APO GOST) are in North Rhine-Westphalia teaching in secondary education at high schools of the country and the Baccalaureate regulated.

The ordinance is divided into a first part on the "Course of Education in the Gymnasiale Oberstufe" (§§ 1-19) and a second part on the "Regulations for the Abitur examination" (§§ 20-44).
