Packaging design

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Packaging design is the graphic design of the wrapping of a product.

As a sub-concept of package design , package design focuses exclusively on the design of packaging . The main task of packaging design is to combine product information with marketing aspects and to give the consumer orientation and an incentive to buy. Nowadays, guidelines and legal requirements must be included in the process of packaging design. For food packaging, for example, the food labeling ordinance must be observed.

The marketing aspects serve to support the economic success of the product. Branding is expressed in the process of graphic design through typography , logo , images and colors. The interface between packaging design and packaging development are elements such as windows or openings through which the product can be seen and then incorporated into the design. A distinction is made between packaging in primary packaging (direct product shell) and secondary packaging (containers with a defined number of primary packaging) which are coordinated in the packaging design.
